If you have never tried Flammekueche, you are about to discover one of Alsace's most distinctive dishes.
Also known as tarte flambée, Flammekueche comes from the Alsace region of France, where it has long been part of the convivial food culture around villages, family tables and Winstubs.
So, what is Flammekueche?
At its simplest, a traditional Flammekueche is a very thin rectangular dough topped with a creamy base, onions and bacon. It is baked at high heat until the edges become crisp and the topping is bubbling and lightly caramelised.
It is not quite a pizza. The dough is much thinner, the toppings are different, and the dish belongs to a very particular Alsatian tradition.
From Strasbourg to Granada
That tradition is at the heart of Winstub Granada. Born in Strasbourg, inspired by Alsace and adopted by Granada, we are building a place where Flammekueche can be enjoyed alongside Alsatian wines, Crémant, Brezel and the relaxed spirit of a traditional Winstub.
Winstub Granada is planned to open in Granada in 2027. Until then, we are sharing the food, stories and traditions behind the project.
Why we are bringing it to Granada
Granada has its own strong food culture and its own way of bringing people together around a table. We want Winstub Granada to add something from home without pretending to be somewhere else: the flavours and atmosphere of Alsace, in the heart of Granada.
Our planned menu will feature several Flammekueche variations, from the classic combination to recipes inspired by Alsatian ingredients and our own journey through food.
